Highlighting and contouring has been a major hype, and yes…I couldn’t help but jump on this beauty bandwagon! Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t spend most days face contouring. But for a night out or a special event, I love to do a little extra.

I personally don’t have very strong facial features. Killer jawline, high cheekbones…NOPE, don’t have them! So, now I use face contouring (and highlighting) to ‘sharpen’ and polish my look.

Perfect shade for face contouring

As you may have read in my previous post, I really enjoy using the Beautyblender I bought in Paris. I took home the Black Up Contouring Stick as well, which is also a current favorite of mine. The cool thing about this particular contouring stick, is that it is a double ended: highlighting and contouring in one! Black up developed five different shades for women of colour! Love that!

With face contouring, it is important to choose the right shade. With this contouring stick, the light shade (highlighter) should be one shade lighter than your natural skintone. The darker colour should be two shades darker. I noticed that applying this product is super easy. It has a light, creamy consistency, so it glides on very nicely.

I can honestly tell you that using the Beautyblender and the Black Up Contour Stick together has made my make up routine much more efficient. Cause, you know…we got places to go, people to see!
